Andre DeBourg

 

 

 

André DeBourg is a world class Recording Studio and Live Sound Engineer born in Harlem, New York, January 29, 1953.

His musical career began in the late sixties as a keyboard player.  For about ten years, he played in several amateur groups, one of which, "Five Karat Soul", would be the opening act at concerts with Mandril, Ramsey Lewis and other artists.  In 1979, André began working as an independent live sound engineer, owning and operating a small sound company, mixing live concerts at various NY area clubs for several artists.  In 1981, he began pursuing a full-time career as a sound engineer becoming staff engineer at Bayside Sound Recording studio in New York.  In 1985, André was hired by super producer Herby 'Love Bug' Azor to be his personal engineer and become part of the "Noise In The Attic" production company.  In 1988, he opened and incorporated his own company, BlaqStyl Production, doing studio recording, live and remote engineering and mixing, as well as R&B music production and arranging.

André has received several Gold and Platinum Records as well as Ampex Golden Reel Awards for engineering and mixing records for Salt 'n' Pepa, Kid 'n Play, Dana Dane, Najee, Kwame, Buster Rhymes and Destiny's Child and others.  He ais also entitled to a NARAS Certificate of Participation for engineering and mixing Salt 'n' Pepa's 1995 and 1996 Grammy nominated songs "What A Man" and "Champagne", in the category "Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group."
